Camosun’s librarians contribute to student growth and development through a variety of activities.
The Library and its partners – CETL, The Writing Centre, and CAL – provide a variety of guides tailored to faculty needs.
These faculty guides provide information related to online instruction, information literacy, copyright, Indigenous Knowledge, open textbooks, and a wide variety of resources in support of teaching and learning at Camosun.
Librarians and Instructional Faculty collaborate to make sure that library instructional sessions are tailored to your class assignments or desired learning outcomes.
Classes typically include:
At Lansdowne, classes are usually held in the Library Learning Lab.
At Interurban, instructors must request computer lab space through Room Bookings (please allow yourself time for this process). Librarians are happy to provide guidance about which rooms work best for your class size and make-up.
Sessions should be scheduled at least 2 weeks in advance to secure your preferred date/time and to allow for session preparation. Instructors are encouraged to attend and participate in the sessions.
Online options are also available.
Our library workshop calendar includes faculty and student workshops.
Librarians provide a range of services to support teaching, learning, and research. We collaborate with instructors to develop student-centered programming and collections.
Librarians are information experts – we assess the information needs of our patrons and create specialized materials and services (such as online research guides and information literacy classes) to meet these needs.
Librarians welcome opportunities to collaborate with instructors on a variety of projects, and to participate in departmental meetings or committees where library or information needs are discussed.
Don't hesitate to contact us to find out more about what librarians do – or how we can partner with you.
