Biography: Kelly has worked at the College for many years and is always looking for fun things to paint at the college. He especially likes to find college buildings or landmarks that he think college employees would enjoy seeing translated into a painting. |
This is a painting of the inside of the Young Building clock tower. I think of it as a retirement painting. An old Camosun Travel poster hangs on the wall. Peter Pan makes an appearance as the ultimate dreamer, and time traveller. A Camosun College employee checks his pocket watch with the main clock perhaps dreaming about retirement.
This painting is a representation of a 1940s/50s Canadiana travel poster. The setting is Interurban campus. It has a limited color pallette to help give it a silk screen look. It really is a Camosun College Promo poster. I had so many requests about the travel poster in the Young Building painting that I thought it would be fun to create an actual College travel poster.
