Biography: Jill Harrington comes to Camosun College with extensive library experience via Winnipeg. Those long cold winters provided ample time to dabble in the arts. Primarily a sculptor in clay, Jill recently graduated with her art diploma from the Victoria School of art where she added painting to her 'tool kit'. Jill has participated in several local art shows as well as contributed to a collaborative public art mural permanently on display at the Victoria General Hospital. |
This painting is an expressive exploration of portraiture. Jill has always been fascinated by the human face and endeavours to find new and exciting ways to convey the very thing that identifies us.
This painting is part of a four part series with local birds as the inspiration. As the humming bird is indigenous to the 'new world' it seemed appropriate to portray it in an indigenous art form, the totem pole.
