My early “knotting” was in the traditional practical form as taught in naval training. Member of the International Guild of Knot tyers, my practical and beautiful creations can take up to 10 hours to complete. Celtic mats can be used as hot or cold trivets, welcome mats, companion way treads, or as wall hangings? Celtic mats are woven from one continuous length of 3/16 cotton cord.. My collection has over 1000 Celtic patterns, many of which are direct adaptations from published drawings of designs, taken from ancient Celtic stone carvings. These have been redrawn for knotting, some were copied from carvings in stone of ancient Celtic artwork.
When not teaching or knot tying I can be found sailing the pacific north west and playing my concertina.
