The team responsible for Community Stories places speaker and participant safety as our paramount concern. Some of the topics discussed at the event may include substance use and abuse, mental health issues, and discriminatory behaviour. Please do not register for topics that you feel would be triggering, or difficult for you to listen to. Guiding questions

Use the following questions to help guide your conversation:

  • Could you tell me about your experiences with [the topic they will be talking about]?
  • How has this experience impacted you in making you the person you are today?
  • How did you come to be a Living Book?
  • What do you hope to accomplish by sharing your story?
  • Do you wish you could go back in time to change a decision you made? Any regrets?
  • What are some examples of stigma, bias or discrimination that you experience and how do you deal with it? Can you tell me three things about yourself that make you unique?
  • How do you deal with adversity?
  • Do you have any advice for someone going through a situation similar to yours?
  • What is one thing we can do to make you feel you belong in this community?
