Laptop Loans

Camosun College Library offers both  24-hour laptop loans and 1-week laptop loans.

Semester loans were discontinued as of August 1st, 2024. 

 Borrowers must log in the laptop at the library before leaving and if they any damage while logging in, they must immediately report it to staff

Laptop Loan Policies

• There are no renewals or extensions on laptops.
• Late fees on either laptop loan is $1 per hour on a 24 hour clock. Max limit is $100.

 Returning

• Students must not return our laptop into the bookdrop or return basket and must be returned to library staff at the circulation desk.
• Students must return the laptop in its original condition
• Returning a laptop without a charger is not permitted. Staff will not check in laptops without chargers.
• Any damage or loss is the responsibility of the borrower. (Including water damage. Make sure to put laptop in your bag.)
• ​​​​Students are responsible for saving their files on USB or online storage. Library staff/ ITS cannot retore deleted files.
• Do not remove any labels. 

Damaged, Lost or Stolen 

Replacement cost is $1000 ( $985 + $15 processing fee)

Damaged laptops that are no longer usable (broken hinge, cracked screen, missing keys etc) will be sent to ITS to assess whether the damage is repairable and whether it was caused by the student.

Lost status comes into effect after long overdue or are reported lost.

Students who report a laptop stolen will be asked to submit a copy of the police report. Otherwise, the laptop will be considered lost and the student will be responsible  for the replacement cost. If a police report is submitted, the replacement cost can vbe reduced to $500.

 As with reserve and laptop late fee fines, you can submit an online appeal form to start an appeal process appeal process.  Please note, all charges will remain on your library account while your case is being considered.
