Government and other non-profit organizations can be an excellent source of credible, authoritative information. Although they are not generally considered scholarly, they may include scholarly articles in their reference lists, or lead you to other sources.

British Columbia Geological Survey
The British Columbia Geological Survey is custodian of all public provincial geoscience data. Reports and maps produced since 1895 can be searched for, and downloaded from, their publication catalogue.
Dimension Stone in Victoria, B.C.: A City Guide and Walking Tour
This 1994 publication from the Geological Survey Branch highlights the past and potential uses of stone as a structural material and also as a culturally valuable and lasting resource.
