What is Copilot?

Copilot is Microsoft's AI-powered virtual assistant. It uses large language models (LLMs) to answer your questions using a prompt and response interaction. It's important to recognize that there are many different versions of Copilot, and not all of them offer the same data protection.  

Microsoft 365 Copilot Chat 

Microsoft 365 Copilot Chat is the preferred generative AI (genAI) tool for use at Camosun. When accessed with your Camosun ID, Microsoft 365 Copilot Chat with enterprise data protection offers a number of benefits, including:

  • free for students and employees
  • enhanced data protection for users and the organization 
  • chats are not used to train the AI model
  • no access to other Microsoft 365 files

How to access Microsoft 365 Copilot Chat

  1. Go to https://m365.cloud.microsoft/chat
  2. Sign in using your Camosun ID in the format: C0XXXXXX@camosun.ca
    • If this is your first time logging in to Microsoft 365 at Camosun, or if you need to reset your password, please refer to Camosun’s Single Sign-in Page

  1. You should see the Microsoft 365 Copilot Chat landing page:

  1. Look for the green shield indicating Enterprise data protection is enabled:

Pro tip: You can pin Copilot Chat to your Microsoft 365 app menu to make it easier to access.
